![]() ![]() I am curious about the material construction of the firing pin. I cleaned it very well again once I got back from the range too. I am quite a clean freak borderline OCD! I was sure to get all the "sticky" perservative off of the pistol including the magazines. Yes, I cleaned the pistol very carefully using Break Free CLP and for oil I used M-Pro 7. This is my first post, I am excited to hear what the experts on this forum have to say. ![]() What ammunition do you recommend for personal defense use in the EMP? What ammunition do you recommend for target use in the 9mm EMP?ģ. Has anyone else experienced this issue before?Ģ. The strikes from the firing pin hit quite low on the primer so I wonder if that may pose an issue.ġ. Light hammer or firing pin strikes from the EMPģ. I can only guess the possible problems are:Ģ. I picked up some boxes today and will try them out when I can and report back. He recommended I try Federal and Blazer if planned to shoot modestly priced target ammo. I spoke with the range guy and he said Winchester White Box (WWB) are notorious for hard primers and quality control issues. On a good note, every round feed into the chamber correctly and every round ejected correctly. I ended up running the rounds through the EMP again and each round that had previously failed to fire finally fired. At first I was fuming because I figured that I would need to send my $1,200 pistol back to Springfield for them to correct the issue. Over the course of 200 rounds, I had 14 failure to fires using WWB. Unsure of what to do I set the bullet on the bench pointing down range. I was amazed when I saw the primer had been struck but the bullet did not fire. So I kept the pistol pointed down range for about a minute before I dropped the magazine and cleared the chamber. I had had failure to load and failure to eject issues in other the other pistol I own. It surprised me quite a bit because I have never had a failure to fire before. During my second mag, I pulled the trigger and it went click. So I loaded up the 3 magazines it came with and was ready for a good pistol break in session. The first shot when off and I was pleasantly surprised with the accuracy and lower recil than I excpected in thi lighter pistol. I have not had any problems firing this ammo in my other pistol. I took it to the range yesterday with 2 boxes of the Winchester White Box 115 grain FMJ that comes in the 100 count value pack from Walmart and Fleet Farm (mine came from Fleet Farm). It is my first 1911 pistol and I wanted a compact 9mm so I did not have to buy different ammo (I also have a Sig Sauer P226) and I could easily carry it. I was extremely happy to pick up my long awaited Springfield EMP 9mm with cocobolo grips last Thursday. If so, what target ammunition do you recommend for the EMP 9mm? Has anyone else had failure to fire issues with Winchester White Box (WWB) in their Springfield EMP? I had 14 failures to fires (ftf) in 200 rounds of WWB yesterday in my new pistol. ![]()
